               Play Therapy

Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Play therapy utilizes play, which is a child's natural medium of emotional and behavioral expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words.

Association for Play Therapy (APT) defines play therapy as "the systematic use of a theoretical model to establish an interpersonal process wherein trained play therapists use the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development."

All therapists providing Play Therapy at Dallas Integrative Counseling have specialized training and experience working with children and families through the use of play therapy. An RPT has met specific criteria and is registered through the Association for Play Therapy.

*We are currently offering in-person play therapy with COVID-19 precautions in place. Sanitizing toys, washing costumes, and disinfecting play spaces and surfaces are just a few ways we are keeping play therapy safe for our therapists and your child.
